Personal Insights and Product Analytics

Astramar keeps two separate systems for understanding usage. One is always local. The other is optional and stays off until you opt in.

Open both under Settings → General.

Personal Insights (always on this Mac)

Personal Insights shows counts for:

phrase expansions
palette opens
phrases created

Windows cover the last 7 days, 30 days, and all time.

These counts stay on your Mac. They are never transmitted and do not require Product Analytics. Use Reset personal insights when you want to clear them.

Product Analytics (opt-in)

Product Analytics is off by default. It is for allowlisted product and reliability counters—not phrase content.

Local collection

Accepting local collection keeps counters on this Mac only. You can review which allowlisted counters would be eligible before enabling further options.

Local Product Analytics must not include:

phrase or folder bodies
clipboard content
scripts or command arguments
credentials, tokens, or API keys

Transmission (separate opt-in)

Enabling transmission requires reviewing a separate notice and a second opt-in. Queued batches stay on-device and are deleted if you withdraw.

When transmission is opted in and the build has a configured first-party ingest endpoint, only the allowlisted counters above leave this Mac. Builds without an ingest bearer stay fail-closed and send nothing. Turning Product Analytics off does not hide Personal Insights.

How this differs from diagnostics

Export Diagnostic Summary… (Settings → Library) is a manual, reviewable metadata export for support. It is not Product Analytics and is not sent automatically. See Privacy and security.
